Maintaining healthy skin can be a challenge due to skin issues ranging from acne, allergies and even hormonal changes causing acne problems. It can be a struggle to figure out the right balance to have a skin that’s clean and healthy.
However, with proper care it is possible to have a skin that is glowing and fresh. Below are a few tips on how to take care of your skin to keep it young for a long period of time:
Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle
Drinking, smoking, and poor eating habits, are all contributing factors to less-than-healthy skin. You can apply all the facial products you want, but unless you change these essential lifestyle choices, you will always be fighting an uphill battle.
Eating healthy means a diet full of vitamins and proteins and plenty of water, and without a lot of fats, sugars or processed carbohydrates. Cutting down on alcohol is also a very important step in taking care of your skin. Another is to quit smoking. Smoking encourages wrinkles by damaging the fibers that provide elasticity to skin and narrows the blood vessels in the outer skin layer which hampers the blood flow preventing oxygen and other nutrients to reach your skin.
Get Appropriate Amounts of Sunlight
Sunlight is very important for the human body. When the sun’s rays touch your skin, your bodies generate vitamin D which is needed to absorb certain vitamins and minerals that your body needs. You only need about 5 minutes of sunlight exposures on your face and arms to get the full amount of vitamin D needed for the day.
Take Constant Care Of Your Skin
Don’t scrub your skin every day. Daily skin care needs to be gentle. Shaving every day and using strong detergents or cleansers can actually have the reverse effect on your skin.
Make sure the cleanser or soap you choose is appropriate for your skin type. This is one of those instances where one size does not fit all. Similarly, avoid washing your face in showering or when bathing in hot water because that can also damage and dry out your skin no matter how many moisturizers your products contain.
